[edit] Step 1
Download the notebook you want to work with from the web, and save it on your computer (e.g. on your Desktop)

Open Mathematica on mydesktop.utep.edu, and go to 'File->Open'
[edit] Step 3
Click on 'Network', then on 'Client\'
[edit] Step 4
You are now at your computer. Navigate to the file you want to work with, and click 'Open'.
